Clinton Fire Heroes

Mayor Richard McCormac, Fire Chief DL Webb, and reporters from news channels & local newspaper were on hand as awards were presented to the brave individuals who assisted evacuation during the fire at Best Western Hilltop Inn on Thursday.

When Chase Kirk, Michael Meeuwsen, and Elisha Shaw at Doublebee’s Exxon noticed the smoke coming from the hotel from across the street, employee Bobby Churches helped notify emergency responders while the three young individuals knocked on hotel doors to warn lodgers. The hotel was evacuated safely and members of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department arrived within minutes, remaining for hours to fight the blaze. Several rooms suffered extensive damage but there were no injuries.
